Hi

For those of us on a low budget, would it be a big ask to include support for Open Office Impress as an alternative to PowerPoint?

We could save as PowerPoint from Open Office, but when I tried using the PowerPoint Viewer (2003 and 2007) and they didn't seem to work. I guess Screen Monkey needs to full version of Office.

Thanks for a great tool.

I have a number of people who have requested this and so have put it on my list of things to add. It will probably be in the Christmas release of 2.2 or as a seperate plugin download sooner.

What is happening with this?  I did not see a plugin on the site and I know that version 3 is still looking for PowerPoint to run slides.

I did have an attempt at this but the OpenOffice API was not sufficiently developed for me to write a plugin. This is a common problem with Open Office which allot of people have complained about.

My only option was to write my own rendering engine for the open document specification. I did have a start at this but it was very time consuming and I had to drop it in favour of other development tasks.

I will continue to monitor the situation and when the technology exists I will write a plugin.

I am sorry for getting your hopes up but I have a limited amount of time available to spend on Screen Monkey. If anyone is willing to take up the project I will support them as much as possible.

Olie
