Struggling to get to know SM

Hi all, I am new to the worl dof presdentation software, and I am really struggling to get to know SM! I've gone through the help files, but I am still struggling!

Here are my dilema's.

1 Getting Video playback to work properly. I can seem to get the video to start and stop where and when I want them to!

2 We have powerpoint 2007 and I cant get SM to change the slides and we have bullet points on the slides that also doesnt want to come up.

3 We are currently using opensong for our Worship projection can that also be incorporated or does it have to run next to SM?

Please can you help me?

Blessings,

Werner

Re: Struggling to get to know SM
Sorry to hear you are having problems, lets see if I can solve some of them.

To set the point where the video starts and stops you must go to the cue window. This is done by right clicking on the clip and selecting cue. A new window will open which allows you to play through the video. When you reach the point you want to start just click on the cue in point icon which is the thick vertical line icon next to the cue in time in the bottom right. Now continue playing until you reach the end point and click on the cue out icon. You will notice the times change as you click on the icon. Finally before you continue you must enable the cue lock which causes it to use the cue points and not just play the whole video, so click on the padlock and it should change to a locked padlock. Now you are ready so click on OK. The icon for the clip will change to the start point image.

I have never tested Screen Monkey with Power Point 2007 and so am not sure how it reacts. In theory it should work fine but this may not be the case. I will try and look into this and get back to you, it would be usful to know if anyone else has Power Point 2007 and is experiencing the same problems.

If you are using opensong then it has to run next to Screen Monkey. I am working on incorporatting Easislides and see no reason why I could not do something similar with opensong in the future.

Hope that help!

Olie

Re: Struggling to get to know SM
Hi,  Just tonight I ran SM pulling an automated (advancing slide to slide) & self-looping 2007 PPT presentation.  It took a bit of time for SM to load the presentation (63 slides - all of which JPG pictures).  Once loaded, SM ran the presentation just fine.  Actually this was also my first time of running any PPT file through SM - but for what I needed it worked fine.  Hope that helps.

Re: Struggling to get to know SM
Rather than starting a new thread, I'll just attach me comments to this one...

Oliver, I like OpenSong, and with the new "Song" clip in 3.1, I think you are about 95% there :)  The only real difference, on the song side, is that OpenSong's files generally use tags set off by [] (as in [Verse1]), instead of just plain text.  It also supports more than 1 Tag, Bridge and Chorus (ie, Chorus 1, Chorus 2), which I would think should be pretty easy to add.  Finally, in our church, we play the music from CD becuase we don't have a large enough congreation for live music, and I really really like the ability to put "comment" information in the song file, so the next time I load the file, it shows which CD and track the song is on (especially useful since we have a couple of songs that are on more than 1 CD, so knowing WHICH one we are using would be really helpful.  If you do that, I think you'll be able to read the file format, which I think is just XML.

The only other missing bit is a nice "text" slide facility, like for announcements. (OK, I know SM is designed to work primarily with powerpoint or flash to do that, but ... :)

Keep up the good work!
