Hi, first of all thanks for Screenmonkey. Something i have been looking for a long time... I am now trying to play with the Artnet feature but I am somehow stuck. How is the clip handle supposed to work? In the DMX sheet you indicate the clip range from 0-65536 which means it is a 16-bit DMX channel (2 8-bit channels combined). but how does this translate to actual clips? Furthermore it doesn't seem clear to me how the channel for playing and pausing clips should work. I would expect that if I choose a clip remotely from the control desk, the clip would play instantly. Another question would be about the looping. I have not been able to apply loops to clips (I mostly use professional loop-backs for shows). Any issue there? Many thanks for your help... Jens

The clip handle simply indexes the clip slots from 0 so the first clip slot is 0 and the next is 1 etc. It is a 16Bit channel to allow up to 65535 clips. Blank slots are included so say you have ClipA then a blank slot and then ClipB you will need to set the channel to 2 to play clip B. Clip A would be on 0.

The clips only play when you have play selected. So when the playback channel is set to clear screen, changing the clip handle will have no effect until you set the playback channel to play. When set to play the clip index will have imediate effect.

Please not that the channel order of the 16Bit channels are reversed to most moving lights. This will be changed on the next version but can make it difficult to write a personality.

Some clip types do not support looping so it is possible that if you change the format of your clips the looping will work. It is normally possible for me to get certain video formats to work if you send a sample clip to me at support@screenmonkey.co.uk.

Thanks, I guessed as much and tried to work around it by using only 1 channel for the content file and the second channel as dummy. Somehow Screenmonkey was very unresponsive though when I was scrolling through the clips and I therefore couldn't see the connection. I even "parked" the playback channel at "play". Will test again and see. Very much looking forward to the new version. Will simplify the fixture type on my consoles a lot. As for the clips, i will try more types like AVI, MPEG2 etc. Jens
